Tamiya TT-01 chassis

Has anyone tried out or have any thoughts or input on the Tamiya TT-01
chassis. I'm thinking of getting the Subaru WRC rally car based on
that chassis and would like to get more information on it, but I can't
really find a whole lot on the net about it. Any information would be
great and if anyone can compare it to a TL-01 chassis, that would be
even better. I had a TL-01 so I know how they are, etc.

I think they are comparable, as they race in the same class in the
euro cup (stock class).
The tt01 has a bathtub chassis, which is better if you plan to race
off-road. And the ESC seems to be a bit better then the mechanical one
of the TL01.

My friens recently bought one, and they are ok, but I can see my old
Ta03-f is faster. His is geared one pinion size bigger than mine, and
he has a brand new mabuchi. I am running a 3 year old mabuchi, and on
the straights I am definitely a bit faster. AFAIK (and as far as I
could see, but I didn't check very hard) there is not much that can be
adjusted in terms of camber/caster etc.

The TT-01 is great for someone just wanting to run around a parking lot, but
it suffers a little in durability. The main problem I found was that the
suspension arms are held on by plastic "pins" molded onto the sides of the
suspension arms rather than using a hinge pin. It doesn't take much of a hit
to shear those plastic pins off

We race TT-01's in a separate class here in Cape Town South Africa. We
are limited to run Johnson 540 motors, 24/25 pinions and 55 spurs,
1500 batteries and rubber 33V tyres. Although it isn't the fastest
class out there, it is one of the most popular and most competitive
classes in the club. We also have "Out-the-box" (TL-01's and TAO3's),
TT-01 class, Open Stock, Formula One, Tamiya Open and Super stock. Our
TT class is actually faster than the TL-o1's and TA-O3's.

With regards to the TT-O1 being weak. Yes, plastic parts do break, bt
given the amounts of smashes we have and the amount of new spares
needed, I personally don't feel it's an issue. (Here in SA you can buy
the whole of "Frame A" for the TT for R70.00 which equates to $10.00.
And Frame A gives you a third of the car.

All in all our TT class is growing and growing and I would suggest it
to any and everyone.

I'm gonna do a build on one, using a lot of red anodized aluminum allo
parts. And I think it may help you on this one. It's running me almos
$375 for upgrades, but it doesn't look like I'll be breaking much soon
you can check it out, it's in this same catergory. I started it aroun
9:45 PM PST I think I titled it TT-01 build. Hope this helps

I run a TT-01 and it run nice but i did not put the flimsy plasti
shocks on i used the oiled filed ones of my M-roadster and used th
balled raced bearings i had from my nitro car witch unfortunately hit
kearb @ full throttle totaling it , but as it shares the same parts
saved what i could from the chassis and used on me electric , ia
thinking of buying a new motor for it now but can't decide from a 20t
21t or a 28t any one know witch one would give me good acceleration o
the line and better speed then the stock 540 :

I am also new to the tt01.I bought a basic kit, added the ball race set
alum shaft,and the cva oil shocks.I just bought the tt01 e type part
trees a & d plus the camber adjustable upper arms for the front an
rear.I also installed toe adjustable tie rods.All these parts ar
relativley cheap

i am new also, i received the tt 01 chassis for my birthday but
unfortunately a while after a grinding noise appeared. I was unable to
fix it despite taking it to pieces and putting it back together again.
Does any one have any suggestion on how to fix this problem.

Take it to a club event and ask, it's hard to diagnose remotely, but
very easy when you've got it in your hands. First off though, is it
grinding when you turn the drivetrain with it in your hands, or just
when it's on the ground? If it's doing it in your hands, pop the
drive belts off and rotate the front and rear diffs independently,
then the centre pulley, to start narrowing it down.
